Street-Legal 2-Seater Race Car Roaming The Streets of St Pete and Tampa March 17 and 18

March 17, 2011 -- In preparation for the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, taking place March 25-27, the IZOD IndyCar 2-seater street legal race car took on to the streets of St Petersburg today providing media with tours around the downtown core. Powered by a modified 1.5 litre Honda engine, well short of the regular 3.8 L V8 engines used for the race, the bright red 2-seater gave media and City officials the chance to experience the open wheel feeling of a race car.

The cars will be touring local bars in the peninsula in the evening. Patrons of the Tilted Kilt in Clearwater will have the chance to ride the 2-seater from 5 pm till 6:30 pm. The street legal race car will then proceed to Cricketers, on Bayshore Blvd in Dunedin from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. It will conclude its bar crawl at Peggy O’Neills on Florida Ave. in Palm Harbor from 9:30 to 11:00 pm soaking up some St. Patrick's Day celebration.

The IZOD 2-seater will continue its promotion of the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in Tampa on Friday, March 18, providing tours for the media on Bayshore Blvd. and Howard St. in the morning. The car will then return to Cassis American Bistro in St Pete for the entire evening on Friday with rides being offered to the public from  7:00 to 9:00 PM.
