ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - As the sun broke the plain of Tampa Bay, Zachary Webster already was an hour into slicing Bermuda onions to complement the sausages on the large grill.
He was expecting a large crowd today to stop and partake of the flavorful items on the walkway between the Brighthouse Family Fun Zone and the IZOD IndyCar Series paddock.
"The crowds have been great all weekend and the weather has been spectacular, so I should have brought more help," Webster said as his 13-year-old son, Damon, was engaged with chopping lettuce on another table.
It's race day in St. Petersburg, the season-opening events for the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights. The 45-lap Firestone Indy Lights race on the 1.8-mile, 14-turn circuit takes the green flag at 10:30 a.m. (ET). The 100-lap Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg has a start time of 1:02 p.m., with ABC going on the air at 12:30.
Tune in and enjoy.
