Thank You, St. Petersburg!
What a week of memories during our 20th annual event! It started with INDYCAR Party in the Park on Thursday, A Grand Prix Evening - Celebrating 20 Years of Champions on Friday, rock icon Bret Michaels’ live concert on Saturday evening, then capped off with the 100-lap Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding on Sunday afternoon.
It’s been less than one week since the checkered flag flew. The track build team has remarkably completed the removal of the block and fence from the City of St. Petersburg streets in just six days. The entire build and dismantle project was done in record time for the 2024 event spanning only 26 days.
A huge thank you to Jim Tario and the track build team - Weston Bell, Kris Boatwright, Nathan Long, Dave Schwall, and Nathan Young, with leadership from Craig Kersey and support from Chad Seufert, Deven Keady, and Ben Valentine. A massive thank you also goes to Stepp's Towing and Heavy Transport and Ring Power for their role in the track build and teardown.
The grandstand team led by Chris and Christopher Kersey and Paul Alterio also is in the final stages of teardown of the seating and suite structures which accommodated incredible crowds throughout all three days.
Also, a special thanks to the approximate 500 volunteers who help make the event happen each year providing assistance in 15 different specialty areas. Some have lended their support for all 20 years!
Finally, we are extremely proud and grateful for the continued collaboration with the City of St. Petersburg and their incredible staff - a special thanks to Tony, Greg and Shawn for their support of the build.
THANK YOU, FANS … THANK YOU, ST. PETE!
